Basil - Brief 2
IMMERSIVE ENVIRONMENTS
Lighting is the most important technical aspect of any photograph or video. Cameras, lenses, and everything else are completely irrelevant unless you have good enough light to make a good photo or scene. No amount of Photoshop or plug-in software filters can replicate good light.
Colour and Light
Colour is such an everyday phenomenon that we don't usually give it a lot of thought. But colors can produce surprising effects, for example, in the way they mix together. In this situation I had an attempt in creating a dangerous world by using the lighting you normally see in a police car. To me there were danger but when I got other students feedback I found that the mind can interpret colour in any way if there is no sound to show the significance.
Early morning to morning
The color, direction, quantity, and quality of the light you use determines how your Objects appear. I have decided to take a video of the sunset through the patterned curtains of my window. Through this process I have learnt many things such as camera position and capturing the true aesthetics of light. In my case I was successful in showing the difference between artificial lighting and natural lighting. Daylight and sunlight are not a constant source, because they change hourly and with the weather, season, location, and latitude. This changing daylight can alter the apparent shapes, colors, tones, and forms of a scene. The color of sunlight changes most rapidly at the extreme ends of the day. However there was an absence of a story/theme without any sound.
Sound Design
It's all around us, no matter what we do, or where we go. Sound. The vibrations of the molecules that generate the effects on our ears we call sound. But what if sound goes deeper than that? What about the aspect of sound that goes beyond what we can hear?
There is an intimate connection between sound and light, like twin flames of each other, wherever there is one, the other exists as well. Sound is the underlying fabric of vibration which creates the light patterns we see around us.
In This exercise i used a professional sound recorder in order to get specific sounds with clarity. I found that it was difficult to record different sounds at once, despite this difficulty i could easily record each sound separately and later on mixing all the individual sounds to give a strong effect.

Pouring rain and thunder
I started Exercise A with recording continues drops of water to give the effect of rain. The next step was recording myself blowing into the sound recorder to give the feeling of wind and thunder. After merging both sounds together I experienced a realistic atmosphere. This gave the video a theme which was hard to imagine without sound. i also saw the contrast between interior and exterior.
The sound of nature
As for exercise B I reversed the video giving the contrast between sunset and sunrise .It was very challenging to record sounds of nature so I went to a close by park to get a closer look at the scenery. After the recording I realised there were lots of unexpected sounds in the background. Finally it came to me that there is two sides of Mother Nature the good and the bad.
IMMERSIVE ENVIRONMENTS
In this project i aim to create an environment that are perceptually engaging, using real and virtual vision, sound and touch, with an emphasis on promoting a sense of presence over a distance.

Understanding the word immersive was challenging at the start however after facing the experience through every day routine I was able to pick up on things that I was immersed in. I realised that everything that I was immersed in was done through technology and sound. These two combined describes our young generation and the new way of thinking. I tried capturing this effect with light and sound to achieve strong and high quality video as well as sound.
While playing this game I felt like I was part of it, almost as if I was in it. This game made me feel alive and active due to the certain actions I had to follow and it made my whole body move to the music. Dancing to the crowds and hearing the sound of applause at the end was another thing that creates a connection between the player and the game. It was very entertaining and could take you to a another world you never knew existed.
